Madison's Legacy

Get to know the story of Madison....

Madison was born on June 2, 1999.  She was born with a CHD (Congenital Heart Defect).  She had her first open heart surgery at 5 days old.  She had a second open heart surgery at 2 ½ months old.  She had her third open heart surgery at age 4 and she was able to have to have an adult sized valve placed in her heart which allowed her to get through her childhood without another open heart surgery.

Madison loved life and had a magical energy about her.  She never let her heart problems define her.  It was a constant battle with being on Coumadin since the age of 4 and keeping her blood levels regulated.  Too many doctor’s visits, blood drawings, CT Scans, monitors, Echo’s, EKG’s and medicine to even begin to count.  Madison made the most out of every day and knew how special her life was and genuinely wanted to spend time with people intentionally.

We knew the day would come when she would need another surgery and that day finally came on October 23, 2020.  Madison made it through a very complicated, 12 hour, open heart surgery.  She came home and tried so hard to feel better and heal.  Complications from an arterial line leaking after surgery ultimately claimed her life and she became Heaven’s Angel on November 18th, 2020.

Madison made claims to becoming a Georgia Bulldog at the age of 4 and worked hard to make her dream a reality. She was one semester shy of graduating from UGA with a degree in Early Childhood Education.

To know Madison was to love her! She touched so many lives and continues to touch them even in Heaven.

I was blessed enough to be her Mother and her Best Friend.  I miss her every single day and that’s why I’m committed to continuing her Legacy.

Please check out the FaceBook page “The Heart Of Madison” to keep up with events, fundraisers and other mission work.

The Heart Of Madison Inc. was created so that we can continue Madison’s good works, bless and touch lives!

Description of Scholarship when it is awarded to the chosen student:
This Scholarship will be awarded to a student in the department demonstrating academic excellence.  “The Heart Of Madison” award is given in loving memory of Madison Evans.  Madison had a passion and love for the University of Georgia and the students she would have taught.  Madison passed away on November 18, 2020 after a long, hard battle with a Congenital Heart Defect.  She never let that define her, nor did she let it take away her dream of being a Teacher and UGA Graduate.  She was one semester away from Graduating in December 2020.  UGA honored her hard work and the family received her degree posthumously.  Our goal for this scholarship is for the recipient to go into the world and ignite the fire for knowledge, curiosity and wisdom into the students they will teach.  Be Audacious!

No matter what life throws at you, Keep Smiling!

Madison always had a smile to give and love to share.  She was always smiling through the pain and wanted the focus on others and not on her.

Madison with her Mom and Best Friend, Heather Entriken.

I was blessed to have my daughter and best friend for 21 years! Not many people can say they gave birth to their best friend, but I did.  I thank God that He chose me to be her Mama.  She taught me more in 21 years than I ever would have learned in a lifetime.

The Heart of Madison: Dedication and Service with Proven Impact

Our goal is to give back to the people and places that have made an impact on our lives.  We strive to bring smiles, happiness and love to those we touch. Madison and the family spent a lot of time at CHOA Egleston, so we are always looking for ways to support them.  One way is donating a meal to CHOA "Feed The Heart" program every few months.  We support the Homeless, which was a mission very near and dear to Madison's heart.  We support and give back to the Ronald McDonald house various charities. We are always looking for new ways to give back.  We have had several charity function events to raise money and they have been so much fun with great success.

Athens Homeless Ministry 11.12.2023

Madison’s brother, Mason Forrester, and 8 of his college buddies from the University Of North Georgia Dahlonega, blessed the homeless in Athens, Georgia. They bought items and prepared “Blessing Bags”, wrote scripture notes for the bags and walked the streets sharing the gospel and love of Jesus with those less fortunate. This is a mission that Madison started and we love getting to continue this through your love and support of The Heart Of Madison Inc.

Thank you Mason for organizing this mission and thanks to everyone that donates to make these missions possible.

Be Audacious Merchandise Store is up and running! Go show your love and support for the Loving Memory of Madison Evans and keeping her Legacy Alive! Link to store is at the top of the page.  Thank you! :)

Madison wanted the tattoo "Be Audacious" but never found the right font.  She passed away before she could ever get it.  I found 2 pages full of Be Audacious in her handwriting in the journals she left behind.  I knew that I had found the perfect font. A group of our family members all got together and got the Be Audacious tattoo and the little heart she drew in her bible that's mentioned in the story above.  Madison was very Audacious and very Brave and worthy of being honored and remembered.
